For Immediate Release - December 16, 2018 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Attorney Frank Walker of Frank Walker Law, again demonstrates his commitment to the Pittsburgh Community in which he serves by agreeing to be the Platinum sponsor of the 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Basketball Showcase titled "Stand Against Violence", which is presented by Woodland Hills Athletic Department.
According to Attorney Walker, "The sponsorship was an easy decision. When approached by Woodland Hills Athletic Director, Ron Coursey, I immediately saw the impact of the event in our region and in the lives of the young men from other cities. Often, as Criminal Defense Attorneys, we are called to defend individuals charged with violent crimes, but rarely are we asked to support programs and events purposed to deliver a message of non-violence in our own communities. I recognize that a basketball tournament won’t totally eradicate the problem, but it places community leaders in front of young men for a weekend to discuss decision making and to reinforce the non-violent tenants taught by Dr. King.”
The Tournament will take place January 19 - January 21, 2019 at theWoodland Hills High School, 2550 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15218. The MLK Weekend will feature teams fromPittsburgh, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Erie and Harrisburg.
According to AD Coursey, the Basketball Showcase is purposed to be in alignment with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy of nonviolence and has been intentionally scheduled on his birthday weekend. This will be a great opportunity for the greater Pittsburgh area to enjoy an exciting weekend of Basketball with an emphasis on combating violence in our respective communities. The showcase allows for not only socializing and competitive sporting fun, but also business networking opportunities and solution-oriented dialogue about this growing problem.”
