For Immediate Release - July 7, 2018 - Attorney Frank Walker of Frank Walker Law again demonstrates the importance of giving back to the communities in which he serves by sponsoring the local AAU basketball team - AAU Perseverance.
According to Attorney Walker, this sponsorship holds a special place in his heart due to a promise he made following a disappointing loss that occurred almost 30 years ago in his hometown of Institute, West Virginia as a young basketball player on the local AAU basketball team.
Attorney Walker recalls the event vividly, “We were 14-15 year old kids who just qualified for the national championship AAU tournament in Orlando Florida. We needed to raise money for uniforms, airfare and expenses, so we went door to door asking, no, begging for donations. A few days before the tournament, the coaches called a team meeting to inform us that we didn't raise the funds to attend the tournament and we cancelled the trip. It was supremely disappointing."
This cancellation fueled Attorney Walker's philanthropic spirit. Attorney Walker recalls, "I couldn’t understand why we didn't raise the funds. Where were the donors? The local community leaders? The small business owners? I decided at that very moment that if I ever had the opportunity to give back to young men, I would support their efforts without hesitation"
Nearly 30 years later, Attorney Walker fulfills his promise by sponsoring a local AAU team with similar hoop dreams. Attorney Walker declares, "It's an amazing feeling to be in a position to keep a promise to yourself while supporting the dreams of other young men."
