Lawrence County Man's Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Recorded on Tablet

|

A New Castle man, who is facing charges of producing child pornography and rape of a child, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on January 9. The man, who appeared before District Judge David B. Rishel, is being represented by the public defender's office.

The man was arrested by police on Thursday after a New Castle woman turned him in to police. She reportedly purchased a Samsung tablet for $225 from the man at a flea market in Ohio. When she used the tablet on Christmas day, she found pornographic images which appeared to involve children. She identified the man that sold her the tablet as the man who she saw in the photos on the tablet.

Police were able to locate the man using information from the tablet, including the man's Facebook account and other information. He was charged with multiple sex offenses, including, but not limited to, filming of sexual acts involving a child, rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old.

The man remains in the Lawrence County Jail as he is unable to post his bail, which is set to $150,000. His next hearing is set for to be a formal arraignment on March 4.
